Senior Cycle
At the end of third year students make a decision about which option they will choose for Senior Cycle. A range of information sessions are held for students and parents to help them make a more informed choice.
Students have a range of options:
- Transfer directly from Junior Cycle to participate in a two year Leaving Certificate programme with an option to do LCVP (Leaving Cert Vocational Programme) depending on subjects selected.
- Transfer from Junior Cycle to participate in an alternative Leaving Certificate Programme- the Leaving Cert Applied two year programme
- Select Transition Year (one year programme) prior to completing a 2 year Leaving Cert/LCA programme.
Leaving Certificate Programme (Traditional)
Students study 4 core subjects:
- English
- Maths
- Irish (unless students have a Department of Education exemption)
- French/German
Students study 3 subjects from the following options:
- Accounting
- Applied Maths
- Art
- Biology
- Business
- Chemistry
- Construction Studies
- Design and Communication Graphics
- Economics
- Engineering
- Geography
- History
- Home Economics
- Music
- Physics
- Politics and Society
